Goals: Improve sports performance and reduce body fat
Comments from Bridget
At the outset of my personal training sessions my goals were to increase, power, speed and agility specifically for netball which I play competitively. In addition to netball I also kite-surf and ski, to help me perform at these sports I also wanted to develop my strength and balance. Whilst improving my sports performance was a priority, aesthetically I also wanted to reduce my body fat to below 20% from 26%.
John is able to draw upon a wealth of knowledge and practical experience. A focus was first put upon increasing my core stability and strength before a progression to more complex movement patterns. This allowed for safe and effective building to harder and longer training sessions with minimal risk of injury.
Having trained with John for 3 years I have completed a series of periodised training programs i.e. long term training programs that at relevant times concentrated on improving different aspect of my performance and physique whilst maintaining others. Sufficient variety within the sessions themselves, make for an enjoyable workout which helps distract from the awareness of fatigue.
I am now at a stage where all of my initial goals have long been realised and I continue to enjoy my personal training sessions immensely. I cannot recommend John highly enough as a fitness professional; he is extremely knowledgeable, capable and motivational. John also proves to be a role model as I continually find John walks his talk.
Comments from Trainer
Bridget is someone I have trained long term, in that time Bridget has developed her movement capabilities to a fantastic level. I am continually impressed with her movement quality, strength and power, more so than she is my counting of Reps!
Being a dentist Bridget is predominantly sat in a chair most the day on a twist. This is not a great position for the back but is a necessary function of Bridgets job. To counteract this a section of our training is devoted to flexibility and corrective exercises that help correct the muscle imbalances sitting on a twist creates. This helps Bridget avoid injury when placing extreme loads on her body when doing the many active sports that she enjoys. We have been very successful in this and have managed to progress Bridget aesthetically as well as keeping her injury free.
Bridget is a joy to work with, she always has boundless amounts of energy! I would say Bridget is a perfectionist who strive for excellence in everything that she does, I must thank Bridget for this as her focus and enthusiasm for improvement motivate me to get better.
